A cycle of scientific conferences devoted to book bindings was initiated in 2014 by the Institute of Science Information and Book Studies of the Nicolaus Copernicus University (since 2019: Institute of Information and Communication Research of the NCU). The University Library in Toruń was invited to cooperate in organizing the conference, and in 2016 and 2018 the Provincial Public Library – Copernican Library in Torun.
This time, the conference and the accompanying museum exhibition are the result of cooperation between several of the most important scientific and cultural institutions in Torun. Thanks to this, it was possible to give it an international character, organize both events in the unique – Gothic – interior of the Old Town Hall, and also present at the exhibition of European book bindings from the collections of several institutions.
Here is the list of co-organizers of the 4th International, Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference in the Field of Bookbinding Studies and the accompanying exhibition at the District Museum entitled „Gothic bindings of the 13th and 16th centuries from Torun collections”:
